With the center, the university wants to boost its international reputation as a scientific competence center for excellent interdisciplinary basic research and application-oriented development in the field of IT security. The focus of the scientific teams is aimed at incorporating IT security into the future digital world – under socially accepted, economically reasonable and in terms of communication technology easy to use conditions.

The center, which will comprehend offices, IT labs, seminar rooms and a library, will be built on the City Center Campus of TU Darmstadt, near the departments of Informatics, Physics, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. „The construction of the research center for IT security is one of the most important construction projects of the University“, underlines TU Head of Administration Manfred Efinger. „The scientists will have optimal working conditions“.

The Common Research Conference of Federal Republic and Federal States (GWK) will finally decide on 27th June on the basis of the recommendations of the Science Council on the admission of research buildings into the funding.
